On Tuesday 2nd of October 2012 we had dedication of our new school.
Even though the school is not completely finished we decided to have the grand opening of the classrooms that were finished at this point, including the great hall that will be used as a children’s church.
We had a wonderful morning where we also had visitors from Denmark, our pastor Morten Patrzelek from Betania Blåhøj, Peter Madsen, Gudrun and Preben, Dorrit and Torben Madsen.
Morten was the guest of honor and spoke to a big congregation.
Torkild and I were given the honor of cutting the ribbon as a sign of official opening of the school, including pulling off the fabric that covered the plate of memory where it states who founded the school.
The students at the school sang a lovely English song “Welcome to our school Tumaini” (Tumaini means HOPE).
Some of the local authorities came to celebrate as well. They expressed their joy that we had opened a school in their small village, a village that has developed over the past few years..
Parents of the students were also present in big numbers.
At present we have 48 students and hope when school starts again for the new school year in January 2013, that the amount of students will increase as the school now has been officially registered.
Peter Madsen ended the ceremony with praying for the Lords blessing over the whole school. He also prayed for the children at the school that they not only would experience to get a good education, but also for them to get good spiritual Christian teachings.
We ended the celebration with a nice lunch for all the people that had turned up. The food was very delicious.
The construction will continue to take place with yet another 2 class rooms, we do hope they will be finished and ready to use at the school start in January 2013.
With all our love
Tabitha and Torkild.
