Monday the 9th of January 2012 opened our new school ”Tumaini” which means hope.
25 students started up in kinder garden as well as primary classes (1. and 2. grades). We do of course expect more to come when the news spread.
Rosabella is the directress and educated as a kinder garden teacher. 3 other teachers all Christians are working there as well. Rosebella also runs the “Love Home“
I went out for the opening, and it was of course a very special moment for me. With me I’d two young people who’d just arrived in Tanzania to work as volunteers at the school. They’re now just waiting for the work permit.
When we arrived the children were sitting in rows having their brake with tea and bread .Such lovely kids.
We stayed to watch the teaching in one of the classes, where they learnt counting and writing.
First and second graders were practicing their English by introducing themselves and telling about their families.
So the school has really started and that’s such a wonderful feeling.
Now we’re are working on the children’s church and that’s coming along. They’ve started on the roof. We’ve received some roof tiles from Denmark as a gift, which have arrived at the harbour in Dar Es Salem and all we need to do is to get them out.
