We finished the school year of 2012 with 45 students and started the New Year 2013 with 75 students. This means an increase of 30 students and we are very happy with that.
The children are thriving at school and there is such a good atmosphere among teachers and students.
We have finally gotten the last 2 classrooms finished and they have already been taking into use. We personally think it looks so nice.
This year of 2013 we would like to add 3 new classrooms on top of the current buildings as we are in lack of classrooms. Right now we have 2 temporary classrooms set up in the assembly hall.
In January we received a 40foot container that was sent from Sarons Slette in Gatten and was sponsored by MS in Denmark. It is incredible how much could fit into such a container so we were so grateful that at the same time we had visitors from Denmark, our good friends Berrit and Enok Hansen whom help us to pack out containers in Denmark. They gave us a helping hand in offloading the big container.
Enok was fantastic at helping organize the emptying and afterwards he started to assemble the furniture that had been taken apart before shipping it, so that there is room for even more things. During their visit Enok also had time to assemble the 2 kitchens and install them at the school, 1 for the school kitchen and 1 for the volunteer apartment.
At present Torkild is getting an overview over what was in the container as it all temporarily was put into the assembly hall.
The container itself we will use. It will be divided into 2 sections. 1 section will become a nice office and the other section will be storage room. As you can see on the picture the container is at the end of the assembly hall right next to the road, which is a very practical location to have an office close to the road so that the parents easily and quickly can find it.
We will also continue to put a roof over the container.
The next step after that will be to expand our current terrace so that we can use it for a dining room/space for the children.
Once that is done we would like to get started on the 2 classrooms that will be the second floor of our school building. It is all very exciting.

The father disappeared and they have had no contact with him for several years. Ruth is a bright girl in school. Her school decided to sponsor her schooling because they are really poor. For various reasons the school recently shut down and Ruth had to find another school.
The mother cannot afford to send Ruth to another school. Ruth’s grandfather is a Maasai and he wants to have her back in Maasai land. He does not want a girl to get eductaed, but instead follow the Maasai traditions for girls: to be married. Maasais think that only boys should get educated.
Ruth’s mother told me that Ruth’s grandfather had received an offer from an elderly, wealthy Maasai who wanted to pay a very large dowry in the form of many cows in order to marry Ruth. Ruth had been desperate because she wanted to stay in school, get her education and choose her husband when the time was ripe. For this reason the mother and Ruth came to our office asking for help.
We trusted God and sent Ruth to a good, Christian school where she is thriving.
We received a sponsor who will support her until Form 4 is completed. But Ruth wishes to continue for another two years and graduate from High School. If any of you would like to support Ruth for a few more years please write us or send a gift to our missions account. Please earmark it “Ruth”.
