Last week a family with 2 children came to see us and ask for help. They were crying while telling their story.
We sent a man from our team to see where and how they were living. When we found out how poorly, we really got very shocked. In spite of their poor life they’re trying so hard to get a better one.
The mother’s 35 yrs old and her name is Eliashea.
The father’s 40 yrs old and his name is Elirehema.
The boy: Israel born on the 14th of September 2000, he is in 4th grade.
The boy: Joshua born on the 15th of February 2004, he is in 1st grade.
Father goes out as a hired hand, when there’s work, and the mother had a cleaning job at a school until it shot down. She lost her job and the boys their school.
The mother has been a year at college to become a kinder garden teacher, but had to stop because of no money. It takes 2 years in all, so we’ve promised to help paying for the last year, which then will give her a good education and the possibility to get a job. It costs 4000,- DKK
Meanwhile the children have been kicked out of the new private school they went to, because of not being able to pay the school fees.
The boy Israel needs to pass an exam in order to move up to 5th grade, so therefore we decided to put him back at school right away, even though we don’t have a sponsor for him.
The younger one stays at home.

The father disappeared and they have had no contact with him for several years. Ruth is a bright girl in school. Her school decided to sponsor her schooling because they are really poor. For various reasons the school recently shut down and Ruth had to find another school.
The mother cannot afford to send Ruth to another school. Ruth’s grandfather is a Maasai and he wants to have her back in Maasai land. He does not want a girl to get eductaed, but instead follow the Maasai traditions for girls: to be married. Maasais think that only boys should get educated.
Ruth’s mother told me that Ruth’s grandfather had received an offer from an elderly, wealthy Maasai who wanted to pay a very large dowry in the form of many cows in order to marry Ruth. Ruth had been desperate because she wanted to stay in school, get her education and choose her husband when the time was ripe. For this reason the mother and Ruth came to our office asking for help.
We trusted God and sent Ruth to a good, Christian school where she is thriving.
We received a sponsor who will support her until Form 4 is completed. But Ruth wishes to continue for another two years and graduate from High School. If any of you would like to support Ruth for a few more years please write us or send a gift to our missions account. Please earmark it “Ruth”.
